A certified yoga and Pilates instructor originally from Ocean Springs, Leah has a B.A. In Performing Arts (dance, music, theatre) from Centenary College of Louisiana and has trained in classical ballet, contemporary/ modern, jazz, tap, and musical theatre styles. Her dance study requirements first led her to yoga and Pilates back in 2006-2007 and injuries as an adult dancer led her to pursue Pilates and yoga as a vocation so she could share the healing benefits with others.
She is also certified in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), which utilizes muscle memory to improve understanding of core stability, weight placement, and alignment in order to help students achieve goals and prevent injury in classical ballet. (pbt.dance)
Leah is a 200-RYT and has continued her education in anatomy integration and breath work techniques through Doug Keller trainings, among others. She began her reformer Pilates training with Club Pilates and decided to switch to the Stott Pilates method due to its more in-depth, anatomy-specific approach.
She has taken anatomy, kinetic-chain and all levels of the reformer training with Pilates South Texas and looks forward to furthering her education in the full apparatus repertoire in 2021 after Covid. Striving for excellence and continued education in her work, Leah stays up to date on the latest research to be the best she can for her clients.
Leah created Selah Pilates and Wellness to be more than a workout, but a training for total mind and body wellness! She is extremely excited to bring this depth of training to the Mississippi Gulf Coast!
Jennifer "JP" Parker
A graduate of Tulane University, a certified Power Pilates Mat Instructor and trained with in Stott pilates mat method, JP is currently a 200-hour RYT and will be completing her 500-hour RYT in January 2021.
With more than 20 years practicing as a licensed physical therapy professional rehabilitating patients in a variety of medical settings, JP’s clinical experience instilled a high value in understanding proper body movement to heal and strengthen the body from the inside out while allowing it to function at its best.
She believes proper movement, focused strength, and body awareness are vital for the healing of past injuries and future injury prevention. Passion drives her to help others achieve their health and wellness goals and improve their overall well-being in order to live a healthy and joyful life.
Outside of the yoga, pilates, and physical therapy world it brings her great joy to travel the world with her husband, take morning runs, love her pets, and eat tacos!
